Google+ is the next big thing

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″]I know I’m not the first to say it, but Google+ promises to give Twitter and Facebook a run for their money in the social media world, albiet in a fashion that seems like the tortoise and the hare to the many who have grown accustomed to the blue and white name brands.

Today, I posted the Google+ page for the Sioux City Journal and I realized that this new opportunity to put up a page on a new social medium is the equivelant of getting a free billboard next to the Lincoln Highway. There aren’t as many travelers, but that will change over time.

Remember, social media is just getting started (really, it’s just a couple years old), and this new social medium (which is very popular already) is but one way to reach audiences where they already are discussing the news of the day.

I hear a lot of people talk about Google+ but rarely use it. I am among them – I check in, see what folks are talking about and often move on, without even handing out a +1.

But soon enough, the network will grow large enough that it will overtake Twitter and likely set its focus on Facebook. Fans of Google’s products are legion, and they are brand loyal. Mark my words – it will happen, and it will happen fast.

The big question – is your company using Google+, and more importantly, should it be? It’s hard to beat a free billboard on the highway.[/vc_column][/vc_row]
